What did I learn? The EA8300 speed test provided data The desktop from the EA8300 and got 150 Gbps. Ran the speed test on the EA8300 and got 500. I ran the speed test when connecting directly to the router and Would have preferred a more direct recommendation than me taking time to solveĪfter getting the new modem I changed my ISP from 150 Gbps Poking me with interruptions to make me up grade. No way to prove it but I am half thinking the ISP was Website, it now says to consider a modem upgrade.Īnd I did upgrade (Arris SB8200) and it worked. When verifying their current recommendations on their My modem was on the recommended ISP when Iįirst purchased it. When calling the ISP tech support, they could find no issue and Then recently I was getting countless service interruptionsĮvery day. That speed was at my desk top with an ethernet connection. Was easy, event free and I was getting 150 Mbps when running Ookla or other When I purchased and set up the EA8300 my ISP plan was 150 Mbps. Since then but did come across a speed problem when changing my ISP plan fromġ50 Mbps to 500 Mbps. I purchased the EA8300 in Dec 20%u2019 and have been satisfied I've noticed, for example, that it says on the page when running one of those speedtests on the router that it is testing speeds to and from "the Speed Check Servers"(Ican take a screenshot and either post it here(if someone tells me how) or email it to you(either way - but, just if 'needed' and 'requested' :) ) Can anyone tell me what speed check servers it tests with and if those "servers" support 1Gigabit speeds? However, the speeds that those tests do show on the Linksys are often well short of our 'contract' Gigabit speeds. I bought and implemeted the Netgear router, but really didn't see any noticeable improvements in speeds and found out I really missed that 'Speed test' feature available on the Linksys' web admin page. Now, I was trying to use the Netgear router for a couple of months as my previous isp had told me that in their tests, Linksys routers had never been consistent in getting optimal speeds in their tests. I've tried 2 different wireless routers, a Netgear Nighthawk and a Linksys EA8300, both with gigabit ports for WAN and LAN. So, I have home internet service that is supposed to be 1 Gigabit up and down(fiber) and I've been struggling with it on and off for well over a month(much to my wife's chagrine! :) ). networking pro with a longish history of working with Cisco(mainly) routers and switches, so I'm not currently able to work(perhaps 'permanently - since early 2011) and may have to resign myself to being effectively 'retired' at my relatively youngish age of almost 48.Īnyway, I have no illusions of being 100% competent in current networking stuff anymore and I'm posting here hoping y'all can help out a guy a bit :) First off, I should introduce myself with a little background info(which may or may not be pertinent.*shrug* :) )
